Craft over speed
We’d rather lose a bid than rush a prep job. Every estimate includes the hours it actually takes to do the substrate work properly. That’s the whole product.
About us · Middletown, NY
Mid Hudson Painters started in 2009 with one van, one sprayer, and a stubborn belief that the prep work nobody sees is the work that matters most.
Mid Hudson Painters was founded in Middletown in 2009, in the middle of a recession, by a career painter who kept watching out-of-town crews underbid local jobs, skip the prep, and disappear before the paint failed. The bet was simple: do the opposite. Quote the hours honestly, hire career tradespeople instead of day labor, and warranty the work in writing.
Sixteen years and more than 1,200 projects later, that bet is the whole company. We’re still based in Middletown, still deliberately focused on the Port Jervis to Newburgh corridor, and still convinced that a paint job is won or lost with a scraper and a sander, not a roller.
Along the way we’ve developed a particular affection for the valley’s older housing stock: the Victorians of Newburgh, the historic colonials of Goshen and Montgomery, the farmhouses on Warwick’s black-dirt flats. Restoring original trim and matching period colors is the work our crews fight over, and it shows in the finish.

What we believe
We’d rather lose a bid than rush a prep job. Every estimate includes the hours it actually takes to do the substrate work properly. That’s the whole product.
One written price, one crew lead, one warranty. If something isn’t right at the walkthrough, we fix it before we invoice, not after you chase us.
We live here, our kids go to school here, and our reputation walks around every town we work in. That changes how you paint a stranger’s house.
Low- and zero-VOC defaults, lead-safe practices on older stock, and dust control that respects the fact that people live where we work.

From the owner
Every estimate is written by an owner, not a salesperson. Every job has a named crew lead you can call directly. And every project ends with a walkthrough we do together, because in a valley this size, your neighbor’s opinion of our work is our only real marketing plan.
